Welcome to Tandem Lifestyle: What We’re About & What You Can Expect

Wellness is personal.

What works beautifully for one person may not fit another person’s body, circumstances, values, or season of life. Even when we know what we would like to change, turning good intentions into sustainable habits can be challenging.

That is why I created Conversations.

This is a place to explore ideas, share experiences, ask thoughtful questions, and consider what it means to live well—body, mind, and spirit.

Wellness That Fits Real Life

I’m Penny LaClair-Toten, a Master Health Coach with an M.A. in Psychology and a professional background in human resources, leadership, and organizational development.

Throughout my career, I have been drawn to understanding people: what motivates us, what gets in our way, how relationships influence us, and what helps meaningful change last.

My approach to wellness is practical and whole-person focused. Healthy living is not about following every trend, achieving perfection, or completely transforming our lives overnight. It is about making informed, intentional choices that support our well-being and can be sustained in real life.

Sometimes that means beginning with one small habit. Sometimes it means asking better questions, reconsidering an old assumption, or recognizing that the approach that works for someone else may not be the right one for us.

What We’ll Explore

In Conversations, I’ll share personal reflections, practical tools, and evidence-informed perspectives on topics such as:

  • Building healthy, sustainable habits
  • Navigating motivation and behavior change
  • Nutrition, movement, restorative rest, and stress
  • Reducing unnecessary exposures in practical ways
  • Using essential oils and other natural products responsibly
  • Caring for our well-being through changing seasons of life
  • Drawing upon supportive relationships and complementary expertise
  • Honoring the connection between body, mind, and spirit

I may also share lessons from my own life. I believe there is value in honest reflection—not because one person’s experience provides the answer for everyone, but because our stories can help others consider their own.

Why “Conversations”?

Information is valuable, but meaningful change rarely happens through information alone.

We grow when we have space to reflect, ask questions, listen to different perspectives, and connect what we are learning to our own lives. We also benefit from community—from knowing we do not have to figure everything out by ourselves.

That is the heart of Tandem Lifestyle.

To live and move in tandem does not mean that everyone follows the same path. It means we support one another while respecting each person’s experience, expertise, choices, and direction.

I will bring what I have learned through education, professional experience, coaching, faith, and life. I also welcome what you bring.

An Invitation to Join In

You do not have to agree with every thought shared here. You may recognize yourself in one story and see another topic quite differently.

That is part of a meaningful conversation.

My hope is that something you read will cause you to pause, reflect, ask a question, or take one practical step toward living well. When a topic resonates, I invite you to add your voice.

Your experience may be exactly what helps someone else feel understood, encouraged, or a little less alone.

When it resonates, stay for the conversation.

Conversation Guidelines

Your experiences, questions, and perspectives are welcome here. To help keep this a thoughtful and supportive space:

  • Speak from your own experience and respect that others’ experiences may differ

Now, to begin, I would love to know: What aspect of wellness would you most like us to explore together?
